We invite you to wander among these remarkable buildings, where tradition and nature quietly intertwine.

The Route: Departing from the Franciscan cloister in Gargnano, the tour passes through two historic limonaie, continues past Villa Feltrinelli, and concludes with a tasting at the local cooperative Terre & Sapori.

Difficulty: Easy to moderate. A 2.5 km walk with gentle inclines. Please note that historic stone steps along the route make it unsuitable for guests with limited mobility.

The precious Fruit

Tradition has it that the first citrus trees arrived in Gargnano around 1300, brought by Franciscan friars. These precious fruits were so highly prized that fertile soil was transported across the lake from the eastern shore to create the ideal conditions for their cultivation. Along the western shore, between Salò and Limone, the favourable climate gave rise to hundreds of historic lemon groves.

Today, some of these remarkable gardens have been lovingly restored, and their fruit is still grown using traditional methods.

Discover the scents and traditions of Gargnano’s lemons with the Limonaie Tour by Terre & Sapori. A journey through historic lemon houses, where nature, history, and local heritage still live on.
Every Tuesday and Friday at 9:45 am, departing from the Franciscan Cloister on Via Roma, by the Church of S. Francesco.
